Melania Trump and Barron Trump recently made headlines following their outing with Donald Trump. The first family was photographed at the Super Bowl party, and they were also spotted on their way back to the White House.
Eagle-eyed netizens couldn’t help but feel bad for the FLOTUS and her teenage son because they’ve noticed that they always look sad whenever they are with the president of the United States.
On Twitter, some netizens shared their observations about the first lady and Barron.
“I stand by my previous comment: Barron Trump looks like the most miserable, unhappy kid on the planet. Anyone who has eyes has to agree with this. I feel for the kid having this douche as his father. Poor kid!” Twitter user @BobGratton1961 said.
“Barron looks unhappy. Melania looks like she had a bad wig. Donald’s teeth look like they were freshly whitened for the event,” Twitter user @Nic4Nack said.
“Obviously not the most interesting thing going on here but wow does Melania Trump look unhappy,” Twitter user @benlazeb said.
“Trump looks extra orange tonight. Melania looks extra unhappy. Blink twice, Melania twice, sending in rescue crews,” Twitter user @RyanRMiner said.
Meanwhile, there’s actually a sensible reason why Melania rarely smiles when she’s with her husband. “Free, Melania” author Kate Bennett said that the FLOTUS’s serious expression has to do with how she was raised in Slovenia.
“Maintaining a smile merely for effect was not a Melania thing to do. She was not a faker- not then, not during the campaign, and not as the first lady. What most people don’t understand is Melania’s heritage and country in which she was born. In Slovenia, smiling a nongenuine smile isn’t really a thing,” Bennett said.
As for Donald and Melania’s son, there are also some speculations about why Barron always seems unhappy and distant whenever he’s with his parents. On the online forum site Quora, some netizens said that this may have to do with his age.
Jay Weigel, a jewelry designer, said that Barron is currently in an awkward stage in his life. Just like most teenagers, he would rather be at home or with his friends rather than his parents.
